Incontro Romano 2006 - 2008

Over the past three years Incontro Romano studied the home as the place in which the family is nurtured, under the broad theme “Live the Family”. We analyzed the work done at home as the most important contributing factor for creating a positive family environment.

The theme for Incontro Romano 2008 was “Live the Family – Home Zoom”. It consisted in a sociological analysis and reflection on the influence that the mass media has in forming public opinion about home-related jobs.

In 2007 we focused on “Home Art” - on how the tasks of the home do not refer merely to the development of technical skills or managerial capabilities and utilization of resources, but on how it is an activity directed to the persons involved. It entails human and artistic qualities which lead to knowledge of self and others, giving and receiving affection, and learning the skills necessary to live it: “to know, to feel and to know how to do”.

While investigating the 2006 theme “Home Management”, we have acquired a profound understanding of the meaning of the work done at home. We explored the importance of it being done with professionalism, as well as its personal and social consequences.
