I. What is the International Fair on Service?

The International Fair on Service began in 2010 as a new format in which to participate in the Incontro Romano Congress. The idea is that the Fair be an opportunity to put theory into practice, exchange experiences, network, learn from others from all over the world, and share something that you are expert at. We hope that the International Fair on Service be professionally, culturally, and personally enriching.

II. Want to participate?

Contact us at incontroromano@elis.org. We are here to help you with ideas, organization, questions, etc. The following is some advice on how to get started:

1. Form a team: There is no minimum or maximum number of participants.
2. Read the description of this year´s theme which is posted on our webpage: http://www.incontroromano.it/it/congresso2011. The project presented at the Fair should reflect in some way this year´s theme.
3. Read literature related to the theme. Some Bibliography can be found on our web; however, you can feel free to use any articles or books you deem appropriate.
4. Think of something practical that is related to this year´s theme that you would like to present at the fair. It might help to think about how ¨true well-being¨ affects the milieu in which you live.
5. Construct your booth: After studying your topic of choice and deciding what you would like to present, please contact us to let us know how you are planning to set up your booth. We will ask you to fill out a submission form for your project.

Logistics to keep in mind:

  1. • Time::
  2. If you plan to teach a technique it will have to be demonstrated many times as participants will constantly be passing by to visit the booth. It would therefore be good to keep the presentation between 5 to 10 minutes long.
  3. • Language::
  4. You can choose to present your work in Spanish, English, or Italian. If necessary, translators will be provided by Incontro Romano for each stand.
  5. • Material provided by Incontro Romano::
  6. o A table which can be used to display your work (approximately 1.4 x 0.5 meters).
    o A stand (flip chart) on which you can post material

* Each team is in charge of bringing all other material necessary for their booth. To the extent possible, Incontro Romano will try to help with providing material.

III. Selection criteria

We are looking for a project that is concrete, practical (demonstrates a technique) and innovative related to service and this year´s theme. Some ideas: the booths can be on decoration, new trends, design, restoration, ... the possibilities are endless.

a) Concrete: something that can be taught in less than ten minutes.
b) Practical technique: The participants who visit the booth should be given a theoretical explanation and should have the opportunity to learn hands-on. The demonstration should be at a high professional level.
c) Innovative: Sharing what you do in your cultural tradition and with professional formation is always something enriching for others who are coming to visit your booth from differing places all over the world.
